The Storm

The journey of the spirit can be envisioned as moving through a series of seasons, each representing different phases of growth, struggle, and renewal. Among these, winter often symbolizes the most formidable challenges and profound transitions. It is a time when one might feel engulfed by darkness and uncertainty, as if lost without direction or hope. Yet, this very season also holds the potential for unexpected support and illumination. Angels come in many forms.

The Watercolor Exploration
Watercolor painting is a unique artistic medium that often requires artists to embrace unpredictability and relinquish strict control over their work. Unlike more forgiving mediums, watercolors flow and blend in ways that can surprise even the most experienced painters. This inherent fluidity challenges artists to let go of rigid plans and trust the creative process as it unfolds.

every once in awhile I go back to this medium to flow with the creative spirit and it always feels good.

The Mixed Media Exploration

Creativity is not a destination but a continuous journey—one that demands curiosity, courage, and a willingness to venture beyond familiar boundaries. In my recent body of work, I embraced this ethos by pushing myself to explore multimedia, an expansive realm where various artistic forms converge.

When I explore the gesture of movement, I delve beyond mere physical motion to seek the soul of the subject that I observe. This process involves tuning into the emotional resonance that movement conveys, allowing me to connect with the underlying feelings expressed through subtle or dynamic gestures. Movement becomes a language of the spirit, revealing inner experiences and states of being.

Central to this exploration is the concept of emotional response. Every movement carries an emotional charge—whether it is tension, grace, urgency, or calmness. By perceiving and interpreting these emotional cues, I gain insight into the subject's essence. Additionally, the notion of temperature plays a significant role; it reflects the warmth or coldness of the emotional atmosphere surrounding the movement, adding another layer of depth to the interpretation.

To capture the immediacy and authenticity of these expressions, working quickly with the chosen medium is essential. Speed in execution prevents overthinking and creative blocks, allowing intuition and spontaneous reaction to guide the process. This fluidity fosters a more genuine and vibrant representation of the subject's gesture, preserving the freshness of the emotional response.

Exploration of a creative response to Vivaldi's' Four Seasons

I was blessed to see the Four Seasons by Vivaldi perform by Candlelight. I was profoundly inspired by how the music depicted a landscape such as lightning, bugs or teeth chattering. I decided to take the challenge to paint seasons from my own emotional response. I again am exploring the gesture feel of a place or season. It continues to be the foundation of my process as I create.

The journey of life takes many types of paths. There is an anticipation of what is around the corner that propels me forward. The path can also bring obstruction and challenges. Sometimes the requirement is take an entirely different path. I was inspired by Robert Frost "The Road Not Taken" Painting can be a conundrum and a way for me to work things out. I continue building from the foundation of the reason why I paint. Digging deeper.

Special Places

There Are places I have visited where I was so peaceful that everything in the world just made sense. The moment was fleeting. My heart continues to search for these spaces. When I find them I am reminded of how truly special the place and moment is. I do everything I can to record those moments so I can visit often.
