I was walking up the beach just after dawn, my mind racing as I searched for shark's teeth to distract myself. Ahead of me, a woman in white was sifting through a pile of shells. When I asked what she sought, she smiled and said she was looking for “The Tinies,” perfect little shells. She handed me a tiny whelk shell, no bigger than an ant, and encouraged me to notice the small wonders around us, like the sand dollar she later found, a fossil over a thousand years old. She introduced herself as Gabriel, and as I continued down the beach, her words inspired me to cherish the overlooked moments in my busy life.

On a sunny afternoon with my family I sat on the side of this river. It was the kind of peaceful moment where I felt I had the forest to myself. I took the moment to reconnect spiritually. I looked down at my feet in the cool river water and spotted a tiny fish exploring my toe.
